Aloha Aulani

Helping you make the most of your stay.

Ulu Cafe

Ulu Cafe

A combination of counter-service, bakery, and convenience store. The food is generally pretty good, the serving sizes are usually substantial, and the prices are the closest thing to reasonable on property.  The food here tends to be much better than what you can get via poolside dining, and you don’t have to wait as long for it to arrive.  This is our go-to for on property breakfast when we don’t want to shell out for table service.

Counter service

There’s a cafeteria counter that serves already-made hot food. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all offered here, although the selections are limited.  The items on the wall-mounted signs are available daily, but there are typically free standing signs advertising daily specials.

Pizza

Each evening, from 5:00 to 8:30 pm the Ulu Cafe offers whole pizzas (not slices).  The pizzas are pretty substantial and are a decent bargain for resort-food.  We find a single pizza feeds the three of us for 3 meals.  There are a few pizzas offered on a regular basis, plus one specialty pizza that changes daily.  You can also create your own.

Unfortunately, you cannot place a phone order, instead, you must fill out an order form in person and wait.

Poke Bowls

We get one of these every time we go to Aulani.   You can either select from one of three pre-set options or build your own.   Unlike ordering a pizza, there is no form to fill out, you just tell the person at the counter what you want and they make it right then.

  1. Pick your base: Salad, sushi rice, brown rice.
  2. Pick your protein(s): Ahi, Salmon, Shrimp, or Tofu.  You can select as many of these as you want, but you’ll get roughly the same amount of protein weight-wise (they use a scale).
  3. Pick your condiments: Radish, Edamame, Maui Onion, Seaweed Salad, Ogo, Cucumber, Scallion, Jalapano Inamona (tree nut), Shredded Nori, Hawaiian Salt, Sesame Seed, Furikake, Chili Flake, Wasabe Pea.  Pick as many of these as you want.
  4. Pick your sauce(s): Soy, Creamy Sesame, Yuzu, Sesame Oil, Spicy Mayonnaise, Chili Water.

Breakfast

This is a really good place for a quick breakfast.  The food tends to be amongst the most reasonably priced on property, the serving sizes are substantial (the breakfast flatbread alone has fed four of us), and the vast majority of what we’ve tried has been really good.

Grab-and-go

There are a number of refrigerated cases with grab-and-go items such as salads, pre-made poke bowls, sandwiches, wraps, fresh cut fruit, yogurt, and beverages.

Convenience Store

Free standing shelves holds fresh fruit, individually packed cereal, and snacks.   This is a good place to pick up a few treats to take home with you.  You can also pick up Aulani-themed refillable beverage mugs here.

Bakery

Bakery cases offer all the standard Disney treats: cookies, brownies, donuts, cinnamon rolls, muffins, croissants, etc.  There are also a few Hawaii themed treats to be found.

Seating

In front of the entrance is an open-air covered patio with a few tables and chairs.  This is also where the fountain machine, cup wash, toaster, condiments, and utensils can be found.

Additional seating can be found up by the nearby Rainbow Reef or by the toddler splash and play area.  While these areas aren’t covered, they have umbrellas over most tables.

Beverage Station

Condiments & Utensils

Just outside the doors, at the far end of the covered lanai, is one of the three beverage stations at the resort (the other two being by the Lava Shack and `Ama`Ama).  When you buy a beverage from Ulu Cafe, you are given a cup and this is where you go to fill it.  This is also where you fill your resort mugs.  If you are familiar with the Walt Disney World resort mugs which are controlled by a chip, the Aulani beverage stations have no such controls.

Next to this is a mug wash area and a toaster oven.

At the other end of the lanai are the condiments, napkins, and utensils.  Condiments include little packets of salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
